Pipeline Technology

Enbridge

We provide operating companies a large suite of pipeline training programs, including:

• instructor-led and web-based self-study job training programs that are designed to equip workers with the knowledge and skills they need to perform their job tasks safely and effectively;

• instructor-led professional development programs that are designed to enhance the skills of individuals responsible for technical and administrative support functions in your organization;

• instructor-led seminars and workshops that are applicable to all pipeline personnel;

• modules focused on pipeline operations and critical tasks;

• a real-time, computer-based Pipeline Simulator to help teach pipeline hydraulics.

In delivering our training programs, we capitalize on our close relationship with Enbridge Inc.’s pipeline operating divisions, from which we can access and utilize highly experienced and qualified professionals to augment or deliver training courses.

Some individuals learn best in an instructor-led, classroom-based environment, while other s prefer to learn on their own, following a more self-directed web-based methodology. Our training programs are flexible enough to accommodate these differences and allow for a high degree of self-pacing, which provides all trainees enough time to learn and become qualified.

In order to ensure that the training we deliver is effective, everything we do is based on strong fundamental guiding principles , and we use only skilled instructors with up-to-date industry experience. By the end of 2012, Enbridge Technology had worked on more than 330 projects in approximately 30 countries.

Our Training Philosophy and Guiding Principles

To ensure that the training we deliver is effective, our training programs, courses and materials adhere to seven fundamental principles that help guide training design, development and delivery.

These principles have been established and validated by Enbridge Technology Inc. (ETI) through research, application and experience.

We believe that training courses for pipeline operations and maintenance should be designed to improve in some manner the performance of a business unit. Training interventions should only be deployed when it has been established that training is needed to solve a particular problem.

A training needs analysis should be completed to help establish whether training is actually warranted or whether an alternate solution is required. We have significant experience in conducting training needs analyses.

Additionally, training initiatives should be designed, developed and implemented in a manner that ensures their effectiveness. One common way to measure effectiveness is through evaluating trainee performance against a written standard.
